L.A. County - Open Enrollment
Attention LAC+USC and Harbor-UCLA Housestaff - Potentially Increase your Monthly Paycheck
The County of Los Angeles will contribute additional money to your paycheck each month if you choose to waive your county medical and dental coverage during Open Enrollment (10/1 to 10/31) and present proof of private coverage.County benefits continue through December 31st.

Instructions for Waiving Coverage during Open Enrollment
- Waive your medical and/or dental coverage by completing your telephone enrollment by calling (888) 822-0487. You may also waive your coverage online by clicking here. You will need to enter your Employee I.D. number and your pin number. You must continue through until the end when you receive a confirmation number. Write this number down in a safe place as you may have to refer to it at a later date. Please note that if you apply for county coverage by mistake, you have until 10/31 to change your choices through the telephone enrollment system.
- Mail your completed Medical Waiver form to L.A. County to the address listed on the form. You will receive your Medical Waiver form within 10 days from the date you complete your telephone enrollment.
- If you did not receive your L.A. County Benefits Decision Planner or your Medical Waiver form, you may need to update your address with L.A. County. Please call the benefits hotline at (213) 388-9982 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday to Friday.
- If you have any questions regarding waiving your benefits with County of Los Angeles, you may call L.A. County Human Resources at (213) 388-9982.
Notes:
- Medical underwriting is required for individual coverage and approval is not guaranteed. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, you may not qualify or you may have to pay a higher rate. For some individuals and their families, it may be better to remain with the county plan.
- When applying for coverage, be sure to request a January 1st effective date. The county coverage continues through December 31st.
